1. Official Exam Format1. Official Exam Format

From BUET CSE's official exam modality notice (latest cycle):

  • Type: Written, descriptive question based exam. Not an MCQ-only test.
  • Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • Syllabus: The same 15 topic areas covered by this ebook.
  • Calculator: Only non-programmable calculators are allowed.
  • Admit: No admit card. You must bring the printed copy of the first page of your submitted application.
  • Attendance: Missing the test means disqualification.

BUET CSE-এর official exam modality notice (latest cycle) অনুযায়ী:

  • Type: Written, descriptive question-based exam। শুধু MCQ exam না।
  • Duration: ১ ঘণ্টা ৩০ মিনিট।
  • Syllabus: এই ebook-এর ১৫টা topic area-ই official syllabus।
  • Calculator: শুধু non-programmable calculator allowed।
  • Admit: কোনো admit card নেই। Submitted application-এর first page-এর printed copy সাথে নিতে হবে।
  • Attendance: Test miss করলে disqualified।

The format has changed a few times, so prepare for both short-written and MCQ styles:

What this means for you: questions are short and broad — one small question from almost every subject, and in confirmed years it was 30 questions × 10 marks in 90 minutes, i.e., ~3 minutes per question. Speed is everything: practice writing short, precise answers — definition, tiny example, done. Also note: Java and assembly questions have appeared (2019) even though the official topic list doesn't name them.
আপনার জন্য মানে: প্রশ্ন short আর সব subject থেকে ছড়ানো। Confirmed বছরগুলোতে ৯০ মিনিটে ৩০টা প্রশ্ন × ১০ marks — মানে প্রতি প্রশ্নে ~৩ মিনিট। Speed-ই সব: short, precise উত্তরের practice করুন — definition, ছোট example, শেষ। আরেকটা কথা: official topic list-এ না থাকলেও Java আর assembly প্রশ্ন এসেছে (2019)।

Pattern lesson: one short question from almost every subject — including "smaller" ones like Security, SE, and AI/ML. Do not skip any chapter completely.
Pattern থেকে শিক্ষা: প্রায় প্রতিটা subject থেকে একটা করে short question আসে — Security, SE, AI/ML-এর মতো "ছোট" subject থেকেও। কোনো chapter পুরোপুরি বাদ দেবেন না।

Priority order

Tier 1 (heaviest): Data Structures + Algorithms, Discrete Math + Probability, C/C++ + OOP.

Tier 2: OS, Database, Networks, TOC/Compiler, Architecture + Digital Logic.

Tier 3 (one question each, easy marks): AI/ML, Security, Software Engineering.

How to study with this ebook

  • Read a chapter → immediately solve its 15 practice questions without opening the answers.
  • Write answers on paper in exam style: definition → tiny example → done. 4–6 minutes each.
  • Redo every worked example (subnetting, Banker's, K-map, RSA, DP tables) by hand — these exact calculation types appear in the exam.
  • In the last 2 weeks, solve past papers (2016–2024) under a 90-minute timer.
  • Keep an error notebook: every mistake goes in it, and the final review day is only that notebook — no new content.
  • A proven 6-week split: W1 Database → W2 OS → W3 Networks + Digital Logic → W4 TOC/Compiler + Architecture → W5 OOP/Java + Discrete Math + Data Structures → W6 timed mock exams. (2.5–3 hours weekdays, 5–6 weekends.)
Partial marks are real: BUET written exams award partial credit heavily. If you can't finish a problem, write the formula, name the variables, and show your first steps — never leave a question blank.

Priority order

Tier 1 (সবচেয়ে বেশি): Data Structures + Algorithms, Discrete Math + Probability, C/C++ + OOP।

Tier 2: OS, Database, Networks, TOC/Compiler, Architecture + Digital Logic।

Tier 3 (একটা করে প্রশ্ন, সহজ marks): AI/ML, Security, Software Engineering।

এই ebook দিয়ে কীভাবে পড়বেন

  • একটা chapter পড়ুন → সাথে সাথে তার ১৫টা practice question solve করুন — answer না দেখে।
  • Exam style-এ কাগজে উত্তর লিখুন: definition → ছোট example → শেষ। প্রতিটা ৪–৬ মিনিটে।
  • প্রতিটা worked example (subnetting, Banker's, K-map, RSA, DP table) নিজ হাতে আবার করুন — exam-এ ঠিক এই ধরনের calculation আসে।
  • শেষ ২ সপ্তাহে ৯০-মিনিট timer দিয়ে past paper (2016–2024) solve করুন।
  • একটা error notebook রাখুন: প্রতিটা ভুল সেখানে লিখুন, আর final review day-তে শুধু ওই notebook-টাই পড়ুন — নতুন কিছু না।
  • একটা proven ৬-week split: W1 Database → W2 OS → W3 Networks + Digital Logic → W4 TOC/Compiler + Architecture → W5 OOP/Java + Discrete Math + Data Structures → W6 timed mock exam। (Weekday-তে ২.৫–৩ ঘণ্টা, weekend-এ ৫–৬।)
Partial marks সত্যিই দেয়: BUET written exam-এ partial credit ভালোভাবে দেওয়া হয়। কোনো problem শেষ করতে না পারলে formula লিখুন, variable-গুলোর নাম দিন, প্রথম step-গুলো দেখান — কোনো প্রশ্ন খালি রাখবেন না।

  • Printed first page of your submitted application (there is no admit card).
  • Non-programmable calculator, pens, pencil, eraser.
  • Reach the exam building (ECE Building, West Palashi, Dhaka) well before time.
  • Scan the whole paper first; answer the easiest questions first — every question is short, so momentum matters.
  • If a calculation stalls, write the method/formula and move on — partial credit is real in descriptive exams.
  • Submitted application-এর first page-এর printed copy (admit card নেই)।
  • Non-programmable calculator, কলম, পেন্সিল, eraser।
  • Exam building-এ (ECE Building, West Palashi, Dhaka) সময়ের বেশ আগে পৌঁছান।
  • প্রথমে পুরো paper-টা scan করুন; সবচেয়ে সহজগুলো আগে লিখুন — প্রশ্ন short, তাই momentum-টাই আসল।
  • কোনো calculation আটকে গেলে method/formula লিখে এগিয়ে যান — descriptive exam-এ partial credit পাওয়া যায়।
